Never Too Far Gone
July 14, 2023
After graduating from high school, I thought that I had a solid understanding of God, the world, and everything in between. Shortly after I joined the army and found just how wrong I really was. I saw and experienced things that changed me into a much different person than the young man who left his small town looking for adventure. I reached a point where I felt far from God, far from home, and ashamed of the man I had become.
Through the prayers of my parents and the unconditional love from my family and friends, He showed me that I wasn’t too far away. I could always come back to Him. He would never give up on me. He gives us 2 Chronicles 7:14 as a very clear 4 step process to return to Him and be restored. I followed these steps and not only did God restore our relationship, but He also blessed me with a life and purpose far better than I could have imagined.
I humbled myself by acknowledging that I didn’t have it all figured out and I needed to take responsibility for my mistakes. Next, I prayed for forgiveness for all those mistakes and asked to restore my relationship with Him. I sought His face by starting good habits of prayer, reading His word, and spending time with other believers to help me grow. Finally, I turned away from all the bad habits I had collected during my time of being lost. God heard me. He forgave me. Best of all, He healed me from my past life.
I share my experience to encourage you. Maybe you are lost and feel far from God. Maybe you’ve been praying for someone who has strayed away. Just know that God hasn’t given up. Don’t give up either. He’s given us a way back to Him. Jesus Christ. You or they are never too far gone. God Bless you on your special day.
