Jehovah Jireh – Provider

August 18, 2023

Mark 8:18
Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?

I cannot say I am any kind of expert in the English language. I would tell most people I am not very good at English, as you would learn it in school. I do not know much about the object of the sentence, or the subject. I definitely do not know what a participle is used for, and I love to use run-on sentences. However, one thing I learned from studying in school, and in the Bible, is that when things are repeated it is to show the importance of the repeated word or phrase.

What Jesus is trying to get across to the Pharisees is that He is ENOUGH! When you ask God for something He is willing to give you way more than you could ever ask for. Even more than you can give. What we see is Jesus turning very little into way more than needed and they (the Pharisees) continue to doubt in time of need. Jesus has shown them time and time again that He is able to provide, and they continue to doubt.

My favorite verse is Genesis 22:14 – “So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” Jehovah Jireh, God the Provider. This is something I have to constantly remind myself of because too often I get into this mindset that I got this, and it is all me. Jesus is reminding the Pharisees about who performed the miracle, and how many times He did it.

When we want to think we are capable, let’s remember that God is the one who has given us the strength to persevere. God is more than enough than we could ever need and if we put our trust in Him, He is faithful to bless our ways. Trust in God today, let Him lead your life in every aspect and see what He can do. See the miracles He can do through you and in you. See the amount of people He can reach with just one person. Let that be you!
