A Glad Heart

February 26, 2024

Acts 2;26
Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope;

Today’s devotion comes from Peter’s sermon in Acts 2:14-36. In Vs 25-28 he quotes

Psalm 16:8-11I have set Yahweh always before me.
    Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices.
    My body shall also dwell in safety.
10 For you will not leave my soul in Sheol,
[a]
    neither will you allow your holy one to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life.
    In your presence is fullness of joy.
In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.

  This is King David speaking God’s Word from his heart. He is rejoicing that we have a good God that cares deeply for us. So much so that we have been spared the wrath of God by our faith that saves. Today is your fleshly birthday or it may be your spiritual birthday, but whichever one it is we have much to be thankful for. I hope you heart swells with gladness and you let everyone know that today is a good day to be a Child of God.  Our faith is the only thing that brings us true joy.  We are justified by faith alone, but the faith that justifies is not alone. The object of our faith is Jesus the Christ. Today is “your day”. Make the most of it as you quote and live out Acts 2:26 with courage and determination. Better yet go back and read all of Peter’s sermon in Acts 2. The people who heard that sermon “were cut to the heart” and “about three thousand were added to their number that day” WOW  !!

May your day be filled with joy and may God Bless you with His Grace and Mercy.

Happy Birthday!!
