A $500 Swing
July 23, 2024
Have you ever bought an item and were disappointed in how it worked? As a baseball coach, one thing I like to say is “a $ 500 bat can’t fix a $ 5 swing”. The price we pay, or someone else paid for that item can be costly. If we are not utilizing it the right way or living like that price was paid, then why buy it? We completely devalue what was purchased.
Jesus paid the highest price of all. He died on the cross so that we can go to heaven and choose to have a relationship with him. Yet, if we go back to our sinful desires and become a bondservant to men (sin) then we can ask, why did He die for us? Why spend a lot of money on something that we are bad at or do not need. We were bought with a price- death- so live like that. Let’s not go back to living a life of sin, not bondservants of men. We Do Not want to be owned by men and the sin of this world. We were once slaves to sin, but Jesus brought us out of that slavery to live our life and become free in him. Please do not go back to that old life. If we occasionally slip up, let’s ask forgiveness, and move on. This is much easier said than done but let’s try to run away from sin in our life. Live for Jesus and sin will start to fade away. Love Jesus more and more each day, and that sin will gradually fade because you focused on Jesus alone. Let’s ask Jesus to help us have both a $500 bat and a $500 swing.
