Championship Parade
July 27, 2024
Starting at a very young age, I became an avid Philadelphia sports fan of all 4 major teams – Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and the Sixers. It has been a blessing but mostly a curse. In my 50+ years, (over 210 sports seasons) we have won exactly 6 total championship titles. We have also had our hearts broken 16 times in the championship game. That is less than a 3% chance to win each year. Not great odds. BUT when they do win – oh what a celebration!! I savored them all. In 2008 when the Phillies won, I had promised my son we would go to the parade. We lived in FL at the time so we hopped on a plane and went. It took us 6 hours to get to the parade once we landed in Philly. 2 million people can create quite a traffic jam. In 2018, my favorite team, the Eagles, finally won their first Super Bowl. The unbounding joy that resulted was almost enough to last a lifetime. There was an awesome parade and celebration for weeks afterwards. Words can’t adequately describe that ultimate feeling of victory. (Hopefully Vikings, Bengals, Lions and Bills fans can someday experience that joy).
Daniel 7 is a description of Daniel’s dream/vision about the future history of the world and 4 of its Kingdoms. It describes the tribulation period when the anti-christ will rise to power and torment Christians. This was one of those dreams that wake us up mid dream – vs 28 – “This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter to myself.”
BUT, Here is the good news from Daniel – We win in the end. Nothing that we do, but all because of the “Son of man” and the “Ancient of Days” (vs 13). There will be a day, hopefully in the near future, when all Christians will celebrate an eternity of victory. There will be a huge celebration, parades, and partying like never seen before. Stay strong! This world and its problems seem large BUT our Creator and Savior is coming back to claim His Title. Oh, what a victory parade that will be!!!
One of my Top 5 favorite worship songs is “King of Kings” by Hillsong Worship. This song describes how & why Christ wins the Title. Do yourself a favor – get in a quiet place and turn the sound up – https://rumble.com/vv3uic-king-of-kings-hillsong-worship.html Worship the KING !
As my mom always says – Listen for the Trumpet!
