A Feel-Good Birthday
January 24, 2025
Hopefully we all have one. A place to go or something to do that is our “go to” for finding peace. Maybe when life is extremely stressful, this is where we get away to just relax so we can refocus. Maybe it’s a person you hang out with, a favorite activity or no activities at all. Hopefully today on your birthday, you can spend some time at peace in your Feel-Good spot.
Jude 24-25 has long been that place for millions of Christians throughout the past 1900+ years. Multitudes of churches cite this passage together as a benediction at the end of service, so they are encouraged before they head back into the world of darkness. Jude was the half brother of Jesus and a leader in the early church. He wrote this letter to emphatically warn the church that “treacherous insiders” had infiltrated to distort the Gospel and pervert the true doctrines of the Faith. He does not mince words. He does not tolerate these evil doers. In Vs 17 after spending 14 verses condemning these people, he pivots back to encouraging believers and reminding them of the hope we have in Christ.
20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
Then, in 24-25, he pens an amazing list of words strung together that create that feel-good spot for me. and many others. Whenever I feel down, I can read this passage and have hope again. Jude returns the focus from the wickedness of this world back “to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
Any more words I write here would pale in comparison to these majestic verses.
Please commit these 2 verses to memory and strive to make them a part of your feel-good spot. No matter what happens –God’s got this. And He’s got us – for eternity. By His Grace. Listen for the Trumpet !
