The Gift that Keeps on Giving
January 28, 2025
In eternity past God chose January 29 to be your birthday. So, on this day we want to recognize you and say, “Happiest of birthdays to you!!”
One thing most birthdays have in common is that it is a day when birthday gifts are given. Have you ever thought about all the gifts that you have been given over the years? Can you think of one birthday gift that pleased you above all others? Do you have a favorite gift that you have tucked away somewhere?
I have one particular gift that I keep in my bookcase. It is a bag of Twizzlers. You might think that is odd, until you understand that my oldest daughter gave it to me. With the bag of Twizzlers, she gave me a handwritten note. In the note she wrote… “I saw these and couldn’t help but think of you.” She went on to say, “I love you” and then signed her name. The bag is still unopened, it’s old, stale and hard, but it remains a gift that keeps on giving. For you see every time I look at my gift, I am reminded that I have a daughter who thinks of me and loves me.
If you know Christ as your personal Savior, God has given you a gift that also keeps on giving. John describes your gift like this… The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
God’s gift to you is a Lamb, a Lamb named Jesus. A gift that loves you with an everlasting love. A gift that is totally devoted to you, a gift that is able and willing to forgive every sin that you will ever commit. It is a gift that will carry you when you are tired, a gift that is consumed with you, and stands ready to help you in your time of need. This Jesus, your personal gift from God wants to spend time with YOU!
Have you received this personal gift from God? Have you accepted this Lamb of God who takes away your sins, all of them. If you haven’t accepted God’s gift, go to https://peacewithgod.net/ and you can find out how you can receive that gift today.
So, I wish you a very happy birthday today, January 29, the very day God personally chose for you to be born. Enjoy your day, enjoy your gifts, but never forget God’s gift to you. Unlike my gift of Twizzlers, God’s gift is a gift that just keeps on giving for all eternity!!
