If you are visiting this page today to celebrate your birthday, allow me to wish you the happiest of birthdays! Amid our busy lives, a birthday, serves as an excellent opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments, our wins, and losses since our last birthday. It also gives us pause to consider what we can do to grow in our walk with God before our next birthday.
The Word of God is one of God’s most precious gifts to us. Jesus said… Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matthew 24:35. Our verse for your birthday today is 1 John 2:28… And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
Many things in this world vie for our trust, urging us to invest our time and resources with them. However, John advises us to continue, remain steadfast in Jesus, hold fast to His teachings and directions. Why, “So that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.”
God is doing a work in our world today, and He wants His Body, the Church, you, and me to be part of that work. John reminds us that there is a day coming when our work on this earth will be over. John encourages you and me to abide in Jesus and live for Him every day, so that we may have confidence that when we meet Him face to face, we will not be ashamed.
So, enjoy your day today, this day that God designed with you in mind. Enjoy the party, the gifts, and the food. But, also take that time to reflect, reflect on how you lived out your faith this past year, and how you can improve on it, in the coming year. Remember when Jesus comes, we do not to be ashamed, we want to enjoy that greatest party ever!
