Staying in a Mud Puddle?

April 25, 2025

Ephesians 4:25-26
25 Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. 26 “Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath,

In this portion of scripture, we are being instructed to put off our old self and to put on our new self. Our old self is the sin lifestyle, and the new self is our new redeemed lifestyle. Even though we are born again we will still sin and fall short but that cannot be our lifestyle choice. When I was in Bible school, I remember a professor saying that it’s not wrong if you trip and fall face first in a mud puddle. What is wrong is if we choose to stay there. Our spiritual lives are made up of a lot of choices. Our physical lives are external. We can’t choose not to be sick or harmed but we can choose how we react. We can become bitter, or we can lean on Jesus and choose to believe He is the One in charge of our lives. We can choose to tell the truth or choose to lie or exaggerate the truth. We should not be looking to harm other people, i.e. our neighbor, by lying to cause them hurt. If this should happen, we need to apologize and repair that relationship. It’s always amazing to me how far an “I’m sorry” goes towards repairing some very deep hurts. We need to ask forgiveness and we also need to offer forgiveness. Don’t allow bitterness to destroy your life from the inside. Forgive and allow that healing to begin. Every day is a new day that God has given us to bring glory to Him! By God’s grace, get up out of that mud puddle. Happy Birthday !
