Faithful Deliverance

(Taken from Monday Morning Musings – St Stephen Reformed Church New Holland PA)
Good morning, ladies,
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (I Corinthians 10:13)
None of us is exempt from difficulties and dilemmas. For some the distress goes deeper than for others. The trial comes more suddenly and lasts longer for some than for others. When the perplexity and the pain persist, we reason that they are unnecessary and undeserved. They may seem wholly meaningless, and to all appearances endless.
There is a limit to human endurance. We may not be familiar with this frontier, though sometimes we think we have passed beyond it. Like the apostle Paul we call earnestly upon God for deliverance; but no help seems to come. Only then did he learn the truth, that (God’s grace is sufficient for every circumstance and that His strength is made perfect in our weakness) (II Corinthians 12:9)
Note that the faithfulness of God is available to us during the time of testing and not after it has passed away. It is “in the darkness” that light arises (Psalms 112:4). We are to look steadfastly to the Faithful One for His help, and not to a change of circumstances. In His time, and in His way, He delivers His own. He is never too late, nor does He come with help that is too little.

God is Able.
God is Faithful.
