A Parent’s Love
December 13, 2025
Just like today, it was not the norm in the early church to see children working to pay for their parents’ needs but instead, parents worked to provide for their kids. In this passage Paul is writing to the church in Corinth. This church was started by Paul, so he considers the people there his children and he is coming to visit them (for the 3rd time) and give them encouragement. He is telling his children he came to take care of them during this time and does not need to be taken care of while he is there. Paul spent his time in Corinth (Acts 18:1-18) as a tentmaker. How Paul is speaking to the church is how God is speaking to us. He is our Father, and he sent his son to take care of us and provide a way to be with Him again. We do not need to save up anything for Him. God does not Need anything material from us – He wants our hearts. He wants us to live in His love and share that with others so that they may also call him Father.
