Recognize n Remember
December 17, 2025
I know I feel convicted by it. The need to recognize and remember God.
Sometimes this conviction shows up in the small sense. The need to
take moments from my day to stop and reflect on the Lord. It can be
reminding myself to pray or have a daily devotion or even staring out
my window and feeling heartfelt admiration to my Lord.
Reading over this verse I feel that conviction in a newly flavored
way. Here God is instructing the Israelites about how to remember Him
and His Passover, a protection and deliverance for His people. As I
draw more into this notion the beauty of this reminder begins to
unpack. God’s call of His people to uniquely blend an out of the
ordinary act (the unleavened bread) into a week of their lives. That
they should not only harken to Him normally but in this time to extend
an even further glorification of their God in remembrance.
This idea is beautiful. To show that additional dosing of love and
worship, like an already full cup being overfilled. In my mind it
beckons me to think of the holidays I experience throughout the year.
How in these times I can extend a deeper remembrance of my family, my
friends, and my blessings even though I already cherish them daily.
All in all, as I read this verse, I do think about taking particular
time during holidays such as Easter or Christmas to further remember
my God, but I also begin to convict myself of how I can begin to go
out of my way to remember my Savior beyond these celebrations. In what
ways can I say this week or period I will set myself to loving God
uniquely beyond my daily practice. Essentially, how can I spark those
twists of loving devotion to my King, for He and all He has done are
truly worth remembering.
