In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John chooses “the Word” as the first title he gives Jesus as he opens his Gospel, and what a title it is! How is Jesus the Word? Pastor John Piper writes that Jesus is “the final and decisive message of God…. what God has to say to us was not only or mainly what Jesus said, but who Jesus was and what he did.” After all, Jesus was with God because He was God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Do you want to know God? Make it a priority to get to know Jesus and begin by reading the Gospel of John. A chapter a day for three weeks and you will know the Word in a new way!
