A Big Deal

When you hear the phrase “Big Deal” what do you think about it?

Anything with the word “deal” attached gets our attention. Deal of the day, Daily deal, Meal deal, Deals on wheels, Real deal.  How about this, “what’s the deal Lucille?” or Deal maker, Seal the deal, Sweeten the deal, deal me in, Deal or no Deal, No big deal, Done deal and last but not least; Deal with it…

When we buy “stuff” we usually want a warranty or some kind of guarantee in case it isn’t what we expected. Most of the time we can even get a full refund. There is one retail store that’s a little pricey, but they guarantee the products they sell to the consumer for one full year. For any reason you can return it for a full refund within the first you bought it. To me, that’s a “Big Deal”. I have used this guarantee from this store multiple times and have always been pleased with how they honor their word. We should be as pleased with God in how He honors His Word too. Because, I have some good news about a “Big Deal” that God has promised us.

Look at Ephesians 1:13-14, “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,”. This is the greatest promise we can have from the Lord. The Lord promises something to all Believers and He will always keep His Word. The Holy Spirit is our guarantee that we will someday be in the presence of God for all eternity. If you read the next verse, you will see the warranty that comes with our Faith, Ephesians 1:14 “who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”

Now while we can get excited about tangible warranties while we are alive on this earth, we should get way more excited about the warranty that God has giving us through the Holy Spirit. God is always faithful and keeps His Word. In Him we have a wonderful future waiting on us. God Bless you and Happy Birthday!
