Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.
We just exited the Christmas season, and Christmas always reminds me of a question I had as a child. What kind of gifts could Santa bring me since I lived in a mobile home with no chimney?! Here James answers the question of what kind of gifts God in His three persons always brings us by using two words for gifts in the original language. The first word emphasizes that every gift God gives is good, and the second underscores that the results of God’s good gifts are always good.
As followers of Jesus, we know that when we pray, our good God will give good gifts that always lead to good results.
